Build three AI iOS apps in the cloud by using Watson services so that you can analyze the emotion and sentiment in text, recognize what’s in a photo, and convert text to speech.
In this short course, you’ll learn how to write three mobile apps in Swift on iOS that use the IBM Watson Cloud Developer SDK to access the Watson service. You’ll learn how to write those applications by using the following Watson services: – Watson Natural Language Understanding: A collection of APIs that provide text analysis by processing natural language.
For this course, you’ll use this service to identify the sentiment and emotion in text. -Visual Recognition: Analyzes images for scenes, objects, people, signs, and other content. With this service, you’ll provide a URL to an image that your application will identify. – Text to Speech: Synthesizes natural-sounding speech from input text in a variety of languages and voices that speak with appropriate cadence and intonation.
IBM Watson AI services, which are hosted on IBM Cloud, can be accessed through RESTful API calls. You’ll learn how to call these services from your Swift application.
Lab 1: Analyze sentiment
Question: You can use a Watson AI service to indicate whether a statement such as “This car is bad” is positive, negative, or neutral.
Question: The score that demonstrates that a sentence’s sentiment is recognized by the machine learning network with a confidence between 0 and +/- 1 means that there is a 0 – 100% confidence that the sentence is either negative or positive.
Question: In addition to sentiment, the Natural Language Understanding service analyzes emotions conveyed by specific target phrases or by the document as a whole. The emotion analysis for automatically detected entities and keywords can be enabled in this service.
Lab 2: Recognize images
Question: The Watson Visual Recognition service can identify which of the following types of content? Select all that apply.
Question: You can expand the existing generic image classification model with new classifiers.
Question: The Visual Recognition service can process which of the following types of media to classify images and return a confidence score for relevant classifiers representing things such as objects, events, and settings. Select all that apply.
Lab 3: Convert text to speech
Question: The Watson Text to Speech service is authenticated with your Cloud (Bluemix) user ID and password.
Question: Which types of interfaces does the Text to Speech service offer? Select all that apply.
Question: The Text to Speech service understands text and natural language to generate synthesized audio output with the appropriate cadence and intonation.
Question: You can train the default Visual Recognition Service by creating a temporary trial classifier to recognize certain types of images.
Question: You can access IBM Watson AI services only through REST APIs.
Question: The Watson Visual Recognition service can consume images as URL links.
Question: Which SDK must you use to call IBM Watson services from iOS applications?
Question: English is the only language that is supported by the Watson Text to Speech service.
